this gorgeous fella just had what is called a myringoplasty to his R ear. Unfortunately the constant ear infections cause the perforations creating a vicious circle. So what they do is take a skin graft adjacent to the ear lobe and donate it to the drum which becomes the new drum. They are flown to Broome for this little op.
We do not have FTT (failure to thrive) with this little Mitchelin bubba...it ws his Mum I treated this day but who could resist he is sooo cute !!
Not a real happy chappy today but when he does smile he melts your heart!!
This is a typical Donger....not a good photo but it's next door to us. It's a shipping container decked out into two bedrooms. Two young lads (18) from 'share the mission' (a group part of the church here) live in this. I'll send some inside photos soon. Amazing what you can make out o a shipping container....
This colourful jacket has been sitting outside the clinic for 2 days....I've since washed it and it has come up sparkling...only trouble is it is probably unrecognisable now......
This is our waiting room and the 'kartiya' (white bloke) is the school principal. He came to the clinic for a check up thinking he had escaped the little 'mob'...and this is what he found.
This beautiful lady is the aunty of this little girl...I was so lucky to get a smile out of her...she doesn't communicate and has (like many) slipped through the cracks of possible autism .....she looks like a he because the aunty was sensible enough to shave the hair to rid the lice......sometimes it's the best way to control them...
Funniest thing happened at the clinic today. We don't take appointments so when people rock up we get them to write their names on a clipboard. Sometimes it is quite difficult to read let alone say some of the names but when I went out to the waiting room and read out 'Fucoff' (as it was written) I was met with stares and glares and my colleagues are still pissing their pants!!!!

more of Hand Over
Boys to the Left...Girls to the right.....
This is the toilet block....there is actually the box with a seat with a dug out pit in each modern cubicle ....I'd still rather dig a hole any day....
Hand Over
We recently visited this place called Hand Over. It is called that as that is what happened....it was handed over to locals...but it is set up for camping. No running water but open area and near Lake Gregory where we fished the week before. We went here with Daryl's colleagues, it's only 40 minutes out of Balgo but we can actually have an alcoholic beverage here....they ordered it in by plane...the alcohol that is. A few sorry heads the next day!!!
Condom Fannies!!!!
These two girls are my favourites....Friday is Condom T-shirt day...we only open the clinic half the day then restock the place as the plane that brings staff in and out also brings in our stores....Fridays are great...unless you are on call!!!!
bloody monkey bars!!!
This little girl (6) came to the clinic with a blister on the palm of her hand which consequently became infected so we had to treat it with a nasty big painful penicillin needle which she of course didn't like. Unfortunately the next day she came back to have it checked and it was worse...IV antibiotics,,,,,
At first I thought this Mum was incredibly over protective as she didn't want her daughter to go through any more pain and said no to the IV.... in fact I judged her and was a little cross with her because she wasn't controlling the little one age 3. But when she brought her 16 year old in the next day and I asked why the big gap in ages she sadly told me she did have a son and he would have been 18 however at 8 years old he was playing with a hunting gun which killed him.......
Everyone has a story....and sometimes it's what shapes the rest of their life in one way or the other. Too over protective ????
never!!!!

more of God
this is the sunset from above the Jesus Grotto
This is our beautiful Church...I'll send more live photos of the local dogs that come along too...all pretty holy in this place.
The church outside. We have started having outside Mass now that it is getting too hot. This means the dogs can fight outside instead under the pews.....it's a scream...well I think so but nobody else bats an eye lid....

A mob of Mr Daryl's school kids....
Our precious (and sometimes precocious) Danielle....soooo cute.
This is called the Jesus Hole or Grotto. The ladder stays in there all the time (surprisingly enough) and the aboriginals have decorated it with candles, rosary beads and a cross. The ledge above is a great lookout to watch sunsets.
